November 17th, 1999


 



· Meeting started at 9:00am on the phone conference bridge

· Members Present: Mike Dyre (U of L), JoAnn Kaelin (U of L), Alex Felinski (Norton), Phil Shelley (JHHS), Kevin Shively (U of L), Hans Fiedler (U of L), Dave Cox (U of L)

    1.)  Update from JHHS by Phil: They now have the PO for all the equipment they need. They are waiting on Cabletron to deliver the equipment and set a date for the install of the equipment.

    2.)  Update from Norton by Alex: No date from them on when they plan on getting on the LAMC network (probably not until after the 1st of next year). They have recently changed their WAN connectivity to BellSouth.

    3.)  Update from UofL by JoAnn: Reminded the group that the new position for the LAMC System Integration is in the process of being hired. We will be conducting interviews by the 2nd or 3rd week of December. The group was also told that UofL is in the process of changing ISP’s from BellSouth to Sprint. The changeover should happen in mid-December.

    4.)  Mike Dyre reported that the CIO’s want this Technical Group to meet and put together a list of confirmed dates for these 3 areas:

· Common Internet access
· Replacement of leased lines
· Anything else that we can think of happening soon     The group decided that the next LAMC Technical meeting (scheduled for Wednesday, December 1st) would be the best time to meet to address these concerns. JoAnn was going to try to find a conference room large enough to accommodate all of us and let us know the building and room number before the next meeting.
